It is the mission and the goal of IHSI Institute of Massage that upon graduation, each and every student will not only feel confident and competent and ready to embark on his or her exciting new career in massage therapy but that the student will BE competent and ready as a professional massage therapist with the experience and training to prove it!
It has been said that the truly educated never graduate. This is true of Dan Morris N.D., D.N., Diplomate. Dan holds the following certifications and diplomas: Certified Massage Therapist, Medical Massage Therapist, Medical Manual Therapist, Master Manual Therapist–diploma, Diplomate of Manual Therapy–awarded by the American Medical Massage Association, the American Manual Medicine Association, and the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences, Certified Chiropractic Assistant, Master Herbalist, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Medi-Spa Massage Therapist, Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, and Certified Medical Acupuncture Technician. He also has completed studies in Business Ethics, Patient Management, as well as Medical Administration. Dan is also licensed as a massage therapist, L.M.T., in the State of Michigan.
Dan then went on to complete his education by applying to and being accepted into the Naturopathic/Naprapathic Medicine–Professional Diploma Program through the American Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, a 5,054 clock hour program as taught by Dr. Gregory T. Lawton, D.N., D.C., D.Ac. Having completed the program, Dan graduated in April of 2013 with a diploma in Naturopathic Medicine and a diploma in Naprapathic Medicine. He was also awarded and granted the title of Diplomate in Naprapathy by the Academy of Scandinavian Mobilization Therapy.
Dan holds three certificates of teaching in the fields of Massage and Manual Therapy as well as the Natural Healing Arts. Perhaps his most fulfilling accomplishment is having had the privilege to teach for more than ten years as Head Instructor and Director of the Kalamazoo Campus for the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences. It is in the classroom and the treatment room that Dan feels most at home.
Dan has also enjoyed a very successful private practice in Manual Therapy from 2001 to present. During the years he has spent in both the classroom and in private practice, Dan has developed many of his own protocols and techniques. Encouraged by his successes with these techniques he is excited and eager to bring them to his own school of massage teaching fellow students how to do what he does.
So it is with great anticipation and satisfaction that Dan Morris, N.D., D.N., Diplomate brings to you IHSI Institute of Massage. It is hoped that the success and fulfillments that he has enjoyed will be yours to experience as well as you study and graduate from the Institute as a confident professional in the field of Massage Therapy.
No one better personifies the balance between passion, compassion, and caring more than Pamela L. Morris L.M.T., M.M.T., Diplomate, C.A., M.H. Pam received her training in the arts of complementary medicine from the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences. She holds the following certifications and diplomas: Certified Massage Therapist, Medical Massage Therapist, Medical Manual Therapist, Master Manual Therapist–diploma, Diplomate of Medical Massage Therapy, and Diplomate of Medical Manual Therapy–awarded by the American Medical Massage Association, the American Manual Medicine Association, and the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences. Pam is also a Certified Chiropractic Assistant as well as a Master Herbalist which was awarded to her by the Blue Heron Academy. Pam is also licensed as a massage therapist, L.M.T., in the State of Michigan.
Pam has enjoyed professional private practice since 2001. During that time she also was asked to work for the Blue Heron Academy from 2002-2004 in the capacity of Head Instructor and Marketing Director for the Kalamazoo Campus and the Niles Campus. She taught Medical Massage Classes for the Blue Heron Academy and developed curriculum for the American Medical Massage Association’s Continuing Education Program which she also taught. Pam has two teaching certificates in the areas of manual therapy and complementary medicine.
Together with Dan Morris N.D., D.N., Diplomate, Pamela L. Morris L.M.T., M.M.T., Diplomate, C.A., M.H., as co-owners of IHSI Institute of Massage, anticipate helping others enjoy the fabulous successes and fulfillments that they have experienced in this exciting field of Medical Massage Therapy.
IHSI Institute of Massage is dedicated to the idea that sound, evidence-based, natural and complementary medicine is beneficial for all people. Thus, the Institute demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting a positive image of natural and complementary health care. This provides opportunities for the serious and motivated student to serve his or her community through natural medicine and the natural healing arts.
The Institute recognizes that there are many different approaches to health care, ranging from the allopathic approach, to the very esoteric approach. With respect for the various approaches to health care, the Institute chooses to support evidence-based sciences as they apply to natural health care.
In this way, the Institute hopes to give support in building the bridges of understanding between medical communities and the many different alternative and complementary health care communities, while remaining true to its own mission of supporting evidence-based, natural and complementary medicine as it applies to massage and manual therapies.
Dan and Pam could hardly have known where the road would take them when they began their study of massage and natural medicine in the summer of 2000. They applied themselves to their studies and soon were invited by their Director of Education to join the school’s teaching program. One year after having completed the teaching program, they were invited to begin teaching and soon they had their own classrooms.
Both Dan and Pam have taught massage and medical massage programs since 2002, with many successful graduates to their credit. They have both worked for many years as head instructors and campus directors for one of the largest and most successful massage schools in the State of Michigan.
Out of school, Dan and Pam established Integrative Health Sciences Institute of Plainwell, Michigan; where their practice and wellness clinic thrive. Having the opportunity to work with countless clients and many area physicians, Dan and Pam gradually began to develop many of their own protocols and techniques. Inspired by the successes of the clinic, they decided to open their own school of Medical Massage Therapy to teach others how to do what they do. It is with this experience and expertise that Dan and Pam are pleased to bring to you IHSI Institute of Massage.
